Senior secondary

​ċċVictoria Point State High School's senior secondary focus aims to support students and their families through the challenging and ever changing environment of Years 10, 11 and 12, as well as supporting a smooth transition for all students to an appropriate post schooling pathway. Senior students are supported by the HOD's Teaching and Learning and Senior Deputy Principal. 


Assistance is offered regarding subject choices, subject changes, information about ATAR rank, Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA), work experience, part-time TAFE courses, school based traineeships and apprenticeships and any other enquiries relating to life as a senior student. 

Year 10

Students in Year 10 - Semester 1, study six subjects; four core (English, Mathematics, Science, History/Geography) and two electives.

In Year 10 - Semester 2; students study a foundation program of six subjects - an English, a Mathematics and four electives of their choosing. Foundation studies offers students the opportunity to experience and explore a Year 11 and 12 course of study. This includes subject matter, expectations and assessment types expected for successful completion.

Years 11 and 12

Students in Year 11 and 12 must study six (6) subjects which will run for two (2) years each. All subjects and most Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificates are worth four (4) credits each (**Certificate III will attract more than four credits).


All students in Year 11 and 12 must abide by the Senior Secondary Expectations (completed during the Year 10 SET-plan interview) at all times. All students and parents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these expectations.

Performance reviews

Individual senior performance reviews are completed for all students and face to face interviews are offered each semester to students and/or parents and guardians. Each student and their family are provided with information regarding progress towards their Queensland Certificate of Education and overall school performance.

 

Senior online learning accounts

All students in Year 11 and 12 at Victoria Point State High School are expected to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or a Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA). In order to do this, each student needs to earn twenty (20) credits which will be “banked” in an online learning account.

Senior pathways

Victoria Point State High School offers a QCE and ATAR pathway (University), a QCE pathway (VET) and a QCIA pathway.
